Adobe Animate CC vs. Competitors – 2 Apps You Need To Try

If you one of the thousands of animators/designers suffering from Animate issues you have found the right article. Of course Adobe is a flesh animation market leader and has always been but why not just try alternative software companies, especially now that new animation programs can easily outperform the Adobe product.

Of course nothing beats Animate because Flash has a copyright to their chronology within a chronology of a chronology tool. But when you want to work with a compositor or optic effects you need to purchase additional software called After Effects. For this reason we`ve decided to talk about two Animate alternatives.

The cool thing about the OT software is that it is just as good for drawing vector based animations. Some other features that make everyone love it so much are:

  • The workflow is good for 2D paperless and stop-motion animation alike
  • Full scale nodal compositor
  • Nested timelines
  • Bitmap paintings identical to Photoshop/TV Paint
  • Parallel timeline
  • Amazing bitmap drawing features
  • Good vector drawing tools

The exclusive fixed duration feature allows OT to beat Animate. However many users note that the toolbar takes some getting used to and the interface might come off as slightly messy.

Give OT a go it might be just the software you have been looking for. And if you are a designer try OT for its Photoshop-like features. In case still in doubt check out the “Mary and the Witch’s Flower” cartoon built entirely on the OT platform.

The TH is amazing for storyboarding/animation and is growling more and more popular with animation studios. Do you know “The Princess and the Frog” cartoon? Well it was coded on the TH software. Here are just a few of the tools you could get your hands on:

  • Vector to paper feature available as well
  • Functional core tools
  • Bitmap drawing features
  • Proper animation continuance
  • Cartoon production external file referencing
  • Versioning support
  • Audio export
  • Inverse kinematics
  • Camera angles

Both programs work amazing if you have a small studio and need to have your animation created fast without breaking the bank. The Animate is still good for frame by frame editing used on TV studios etc.

Of course the performance control for TH, OT and Adobe feels very different but why limit yourself when you can have options. Come back to our blog for more tips and tutorials.
